Self-care has been a hot topic these past few years and we are ALL about it! This day created an amazing opportunity for you to unwind and intentionally focus on your wellbeing. Treat yourself with these top 5 easily accessible self-care practices!
1. PRACTICE YOGA / MOVE YOUR BODY!
Of course this is number 1. 😂
Yoga and movement help clear the mind and relax the body. Even if you’re not a big fan of yoga – give it a try! There are plenty of choices like restorative yoga, gentle yoga, or yin yoga that can recenter the nervous system and release your tension. Short on time? Not a problem.

A nice long walk, light weights class or any other type of movement is also a great way to de-stress – even though you may be sweaty and working hard in the moment – the relaxation that follows will be well worth it!
2. CREATE AN AT-HOME RETREAT
End your work-day a few hours early and treat yourself to an at-home retreat! If that’s not possible – make one of your weekends dedicated to YOU and your retreat!
Choose a corner of your house that you’d like to cozy up and add extra comfort by stockpiling rugs, pillows, or blankets. Surround yourself with books that make you happy or plants that add fresh oxygen. Buy yourself a bouquet of flowers or pull out that bottle of wine that you’ve been saving. Light a candle and begin your mini retreat.
This retreat doesn’t have to be super fancy; the point is that you intentionally set aside some time to treat yourself and unwind… whatever that may look like for YOU!
3. SPEND SOME TIME OUTSIDE
Take advantage of summer and spend some time outside!
Go on a nature walk, hit the beach, get in a pool, or maybe even go tubing down a river! Studies have shown that spending some time in nature can relieve stress, improve mood, and boost feelings of happiness and well-being (source).
4. DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
This is your opportunity to say “no”.
Sleep in till 12pm. Binge watch your favorite TV show. Cuddle with your fur babies. Take a long nap. This is your chance to do so guilt-free.
National Relaxation Day is a celebration of REST. You deserve to not do anything and not feel stressed about it.
If your business is connected to social media or the internet, take the day off.
Heck, even if your business isn’t…take the day off.
Disconnect from the digital world and spend some real-world time with people that you love. This is another opportunity to relax and focus on the present in order to release any work-related stress.
