What made you take the leap in entrepreneurship?
I don’t so much consider myself an entrepreneur, but rather a creator of my own vision; consciously creating my vision into a reality every day through my actions. For me it was simple, my intrinsic value was much greater than the extrinsic value for monetary gain. Therefore, the leap towards entrepreneurship was always boiling in my heart.
Of course, the leap towards entrepreneurship is never smooth, sometimes we work part-time jobs on the side for security out of fear and doubt that’s arising – that’s completely normal. At least you are moving one step closer towards your purpose and creating aligning actions.
As one of my Sadhguru once said, “You have one fundamental choice: either you learn to live with your creation, or you continue to manufacture your own creation in your head”. Fear and doubt will always surface up, but don’t let your mind stop you. Embrace the doubts, and carry on towards your vision and purpose. The saddest summary of life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.
What’s your favorite part about being your own boss?
Oh so much. But most of all, TIME!
Time for creativity
Time for thinking
Time for evolving
Time for personal growth
Time for doing epic things!
Do you have any work philosophies that drive your business?
Direction is more important than speed. Become aware of what your intention is. What your dreams are. Nurture them. The details have a tendency of manifesting at the right time. Trust the process.
What does “bringing breath to business” mean for you and your brand?
Your breath is the greatest tool that provides you personal feedback on your physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. As result, when we learn to bring awareness and use our breath mindfully, we can greatly improve our working focus and productivity. Focus on your breath next time that you’re working: is your breath is shallow and short? if so, perhaps it is trying to communicate with you that something is not aligning. Are you stressed in the mind? body? soul? Or, is your breath is relaxed, steady, and rhythmic? Notice how good you must feel at this moment. Your breath is communicating to you that everything is fine. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it because your body is in harmony.
‘Bringing breath to business‘ means to listen to your breath equally, if not more, than you do with your mind. The mind tends to always want to challenge your breath. And that’s OK because without mind we lack motivation. And, with too much mind we feel anxious and stressed. Bringing breath to business means finding that point of equilibrium where everything is in perfect balance.
What’s your biggest tip for social media success?
First of all, one must define what success means: is it a loyal following? monetary gains? followers? That’s an important question. For me, success means to create a meaningful and lasting relationship with an audience. And with that, I believe that all good things take time and grow with experience, authenticity, and purpose. Sure you can easily market and promote your services over social media and find instant success (success is subjective to the individual).
The internet is filled with a saturation of content and clickbait. But, all that is a short-term success. For long-term success, it takes time to build and create that trust with your audience which leads to long-term loyalty in the end. Sure you, might not see that relationship develop instantly, but as I said, all good things take time. Be authentic, be you, and your audience will find you. And when they do, I promise they will be there for you.
What would be the one piece of advice you’d give to someone working to “find their passion or purpose”/piece of advice you’d give to someone working on building a brand/business?
You have this one lifetime, use it for your creation. As Sadhguru said, ‘the fundamental choice is yours. You can either: learn to live with creation by being the creator of your narrative, or you can continue to manufacture your creation in your head.’ How do you want to write your story?
I recently wrote this piece that I would like to share to encourage others to find alignment and purpose in their lives. The article covers 3-Steps to Aligning Your Vision & Values For Long Term Success. You can find it here.
