As an entrepreneur, she created yogaOne Studios, a community of 7 thriving yoga studios, a juice bar and an on-line yoga video platform that she sold to YogaWorks in 2017. She currently owns Blue Sky Retreat Center in Taos, New Mexico and is a success coach who helps vision-driven individuals build the happy, healthy, and inspired lives that they seek.

What made you take the leap in entrepreneurship?
Honestly, I was really naive about entrepreneurship. I was 28 years old and just had my first baby. I naively thought that having my own business meant having a lot of freedom and flexibility for me to be a great mom and do what I loved, aka yoga. What I did not know at the time was that owning my own business is a 24/7/365 affair. Working in public accounting with 80 hrs+/a week paled in comparison to being a business owner. Looking back, I am so happy I was naive. As a result of stepping up to be an entrepreneur, I have grown more than I ever thought was possible, I expanded, I have learned so much, I have created total financial freedom for me and my family and yes, the time freedom too.
What’s your favorite part about being your own boss?
I love who I have become on my path to being my own boss. I’ve learned to become a powerful leader, who inspires and uplifts her team. I’ve learned how to communicate with others in a graceful way. I’ve learned to innovate, delegate, focus and prioritize what matters most. I worked hard and so much to become who I am today, and I have reaped the results too. I have the privilege to do what I want, live where I want, travel around the world if I choose to and I get to empower and support others to create the same kind of freedom for themselves.
Do you have any work philosophies that drive your business?
Innovate and empower. Constantly innovate and grow in every area of your business: your products & services, your community of customers and your team, and, most importantly, you as a human and as a leader. Empower and inspire your community: your customers, your team and everyone you interact with.
What does “bringing breath to business” mean for you and your brand?
Even though I have worked my tail off to create a thriving multi-million-dollar yoga brand, I always attribute my success to Divine guidance. Breath is a huge part of that beautiful dance between my human me and my divine me. When I pause to take a deep breath, I get to ground down and connect with my inner wisdom, my intuition, and my Divine guidance.
What’s your biggest tip for social media success?
Share from your heart. Speak to what matters to you most. Your passion and your true essence is that thing that will always pull your community towards you.
What would be the one piece of advice you’d give to someone working to “find their passion or purpose”?/piece of advice you’d give to someone working on building a brand/business?
Because I consider myself a spiritual entrepreneur, it all comes down to that Divine guidance I spoke about earlier. I always start my day with a prayer and then I sit in stillness, patiently waiting for the answer. This meditative practice that is a huge part of my daily discipline is where all the great ideas on growing and expanding my business came from. Selling my business in perfect timing and in a perfect way came to me in my vision meditation. So, my advice would be this: ask the Divine “what is my passion? What is my purpose? I surrender to your loving guidance. Thank you for showing me the way” then sit patiently and wait for the answer.
